Dare to Dream!

Happy Wednesday!

I am so excited to truly begin blogging this year! Last year I started blogging, but was *SO* nervous about it that I just stopped. I ran into a writer's block and was nervous about what to share. When I saw the TPT Summer Challenge picture circulating Instagram and Facebook a few weeks ago I knew I needed to get in on the fun and give the blogging game another try!

This weeks challenge has made me stop and think about what my 'dreams' really are. Where do I hope to be in five year? What about ten? Where do I hope to be with my TPT buisness in the next year?

Dreaming is such a wonderful thing and I am so thankful for this challenge. It is so inspiring to sit down and think about these questions.

1. Become a successful and consistent blogger: I absolutely love everything about the teacher blogging community. It has provided me with such an amazing resource to grow as an educator. I feel like when I sit down and read my favorite blogs each night I am attending my own mini-professional development sessions! I want this blog to become my platform to learn, connect, and motivate other teachers, too!

2. Build my TPT buisness: I absolutely *love* creating new resources and sharing them on TPT. TPT is the most encouraging and challenging website. It has taught me so much about myself as a teacher! I want to challenge myself to build my buisness and create resources that are valuable to other teachers. I would love for TPT to provide a extra income for my family. My husband is a professional runner and travels to races all over the country. I would love for TPT to provide me the financial opportunity to buy plane tickets so I can watch him compete more ... perhaps for his *biggest*  race, the 2016 Marathon Olympic Trials, in February??

3. Do the Lord's Work: Simply put, I would not be where I am with out the Lord. I want to use more of my time to get involved and do His work, sharing the Gospel. I want to to give abundantly to God and His people. Nothing is better than giving. There is no better feeling!

What are your dreams? Grab the image below and share!

5th Grade SOL Math RTI Packet

Hi, friends! I am here to share with you about my new 5th Grade SOL RTI packet for Math. Yes, a SOL focused packet, not common core! It is so hard to find resources that are for Virginia's standards, so here is a specific one for *YOU!*

A little bit about the packet, I began searching for an way to begin checking to see what my students know and remember from previous units and what needs remediation. I created this bundle to be the perfect 5th grade resource. This packet is a growing bundle and I will be adding pages to it as we go. If you purchase this bundle and see an area missing I am happy to add it!

Each page has the SOL and a score box. This is a way for me to keep track of their score and I have an easy reference to SOLs that still need work!

My students love the engaging clipart and the challenge of the pack!

I hope you enjoy!

Number Sense Activities

Hi again!

Prime and composite numbers are always a tough subject in my class. Incorporating the difference between even/odd & prime/composite numbers can be tricky, so I created these interactive games to help my students practice these difficult concepts! Click the picture to each activity at my TPT store.

Both files come with a spinner activity & computation sort cards. These are great sets for students to apply what they know about numbers to create a play games in their interactive notebooks.

Each activity comes with recording pages for the spinner games.

You can find the Even and Odd activity file here and the Prime and Composite activity file here.

Enjoy!

Measurement Unit

Hello there, friends! We are getting ready to teach measurment and I am so excited to tackle this unit. I have been desperate for ideas and activities to go along with this unit of study. Measurment can be tricky. I'll be honest, I still look up conversions on my phone when I am cooking! I love using interactive notebooks in my classroom, so I developed this bundle of resources to go along with our notebook. Here is a little glimpse of what is inside.

I have many levels in my math class, so I try to create all of my resources with answer key QR codes. I do this so my students will get immediate feedback on their work when they are not in a small group with me. Plus, they LOVE using the iPads!

This unit pack is full of sorts, matching games, and task cards to teach equivalent measurement. The entire unit is 62 pages, and includes QR Code answer keys for each task.

I teach metric measurement using a King Henry chart. My kiddos love the silly story of King Henry drinking ugly dark chocolate milk :)

Finally, I have included several interactive notebook pages and reference cards. My students keep envelopes in their interactive notebooks to hold task and vocabulary reference cards. This way they can study at home and have easy access to foldables! I will do a blog post on our interactive notebooks soon!
Every metric and customary unit has a foldable for students to compare and analyze.
